Bei dem vielen Schnee da draußen ist mir heute nach Sonne… Estelle und Hubert haben im September geheiratet und einen wunderschönen Spätsommer-Tag erwischt. Schon am Morgen wurde viel gelacht. Estelle hatte ihre Freundinnen und Trauzeuginnen bei sich und das Brautstyling fand im Wohnzimmer statt. Übrigens empfehle ich das allen Bräuten: sucht euch jemanden für Haare & Make Up, der zu euch kommt am Hochzeitstag. Egal ob zuhause oder im Hotel – es ist auf alle Fälle viel entspannter so. Die kirchliche Trauung fand in Bad Wiessee am Tegernsee statt. Und weil Estelle auf der Fahrt ihr schönes Brautkleid nicht zerknittern wollte, war das Anziehen vor der Kirche geplant. Dass es dann tatsächlich VOR der Kirche stattfinden musste, trug sehr zur lustigen Stimmung bei den Mädels bei! Besonders hübsch fand ich den Blumenschmuck für die Brautjungfern. In der Kirche hat der Chor eine Gänsehaut-Stimmung geschaffen. Gefeiert wurde im wundervollen ViCulinaris in Bad Tölz.

It’s heavily snowing today and I’m craving for sun… So I thought it would be nice to review the late-summer wedding of Estelle & Hubert. There was a great atmosphere throughout the day and there was lots of laughter and fun already when I arrived at Estelle’s home. She had her bridesmaids around her while everyone was getting ready. By the way: I totally recommend for every bride to look for a Hair- and Make Up Artist who will come to your home or hotel for the styling. It’s so much more relaxing! The official ceremony took place in Bad Wiessee. Estelle didn’t want to rumple her dress so the plan was to get dressed at the church. It actually had to happen outside the church and that was just so much fun. I loved the flower-bracelets for the bridesmaids! Estelle and Hubert hired a choir for the ceremony: goosebumps atmosphere! The reception took place at a lovely place in Bad Tölz: ViCulinaris.

FILM IS NOT DEAD – {workshop/london}

I’ve been trying to write a proper blog post about my trip to London for quite a while now. About the amazing Jonathan Canlas and FIND. And what a wonderful experience that was – my first photography workshop ever. FIND is FILM IS NOT DEAD, so it’s all about shooting film. But it’s also about finding your own voice and building a strong business. Jonathan is a great guy, so easy going and he was an open book, willing to share everything. Back from London I started shooting ‘hybrid’ and brought my Contax and Hasselblad almost everywhere – see some examples here, here, here and here. I’ll continue this analogue journey for sure – FILM IS NOT DEAD!! I know Jonathan would love to visit Germany – so I hope he is planning a FIND workshop in Munich, …Jonathan? Oh and make sure to check out his FILM IS NOT DEAD GUIDE !!

Seit einer ganzen Weile versuche ich einen Blogpost über meine kleine Reise nach London zu schreiben. Über den wundervollen Jonathan Canlas und FIND. Und darüber, wie toll die Erfahrung war – mein erster Foto-Workshop überhaupt. FIND heisst FILM IS NOT DEAD, es geht also ums analoge fotografieren. Aber nicht nur das, der Workshop zeigt auch, wie man seinen eigenen Stil findet und ein stabiles Business auf- und ausbaut. Jonathan ist ein wundervoller Lehrer, er war ein offenes Buch für die drei Tage und hat wirklich jede Frage beantwortet. Zurück aus London habe ich meine Contax und Hasselblad zu fast jeder Hochzeit mitgenommen und einen Teil der Bilder auf Film gebannt. Einige Beispiele sind hier, hier, hier und hier. Diese analoge Reise werde ich sicher fortsetzen – FILM IS NOT DEAD! Ich weiß, dass Jonathan sehr gerne nach Deutschland reisen würde – ich hoffe also, dass er bereits einen Workshop in München plant! Falls ihr Interesse an analoger Fotografie habt, kauft euch dieses Buch!

Ich habe einen Teil meiner Bilder von 2011 durchgesehen und beschlossen, ein paar Portraits aus meiner Familienfotografie hier zu zeigen, die ich besonders mag. Mein Blog für Kinderfotografie wurde nicht aktualisiert in diesem Jahr: eine neue Seite ist in Arbeit, dazu bald mehr!

Nadia & Philipp {wedding | Meran | Italy}

So close to christmas and the end of the year and again there are so many beautiful weddings from 2011 that I haven’t put on my blog yet. Like the wedding of Nadia & Philipp who got married in beautiful Merano (South-Tyrol, Italy). Nadia told me that they spoke about their dream-wedding real early in their relationship and they both wanted to get married in a little chapel on the mountain. Nadia grew up in Merano and was surrounded by mountains – but still: It was quiet a challenge to find the ideal chapel ‘with a view’ and enough space for the traditional reception – Agape – after the ceremony. They finally found the chapel of Sankt Kathrein in Hafling – and it is so beautiful there, I was stoked when I saw that place. The place that they chose for their wedding celebration totally took my breath away: Hotel Castel Fragsburg – you really don’t want to leave once you’re there… But see for yourself! This setting together with lovely people – it was an unforgettable, wonderful wedding.

Es ist bald Weihnachten, das Jahr bald zu Ende – und ich habe noch immer so viele Hochzeiten von 2011, die ich noch nicht gebloggt habe. Wie die von Nadia und Philipp, die im schönen Meran stattfand. Nadia hat mir erzählt, dass sie mit Philipp schon sehr früh in ihrer Beziehung über den idealen Ort zum Heiraten nachgedacht hat – und es sollte eine Kapelle auf einem Berg sein. Nadia ist in Meran aufgewachsen und war von Bergen umgeben – und trotzdem war es eine echte Herausforderung, die ideale Kapelle mit Blick und genügend Platz für die traditionelle Agape nach der Kirche zu finden. Schließlich haben sie die Sankt Kathrein Kapelle in Hafling gefunden und es ist wirklich so schön dort! Die Hochzeitsfeier fand im Hotel Castel Fragsburg statt – und das hat mir dann total die Sprache verschlagen. Von dort möchte man nicht mehr weg! Mit dieser Location und den wunderbaren Menschen konnte es nur eine unvergesslich schöne Hochzeit werden.

Francie & Nils {E-Session}

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to meet Francie & Nils who will be celebrating their german-american wedding in June 2012. Its going to be fabulous since all important parameters are fixed: the location (Burg Wartenfels), the wedding coordinator (Doreen Winking) – and more important than that: these guys are FUN! We’ve created a few images especially for their Save the Date Card (designed by Sonja Bührke).

Bettina & Martin {Winter Wedding}

Die Hochzeit von Bettina und Martin fand im Oktober in Kirchberg / Tirol statt und wurde überraschenderweise zur echten Winter-Hochzeit. Bis zum Sonntag morgen gab es satte 20 cm Neuschnee auf der Maierl Alm! Aber eins nach dem anderen: Standesamtlich wurde in Kirchberg geheiratet und am Abend gab es ein Get-together auf der Kasplatzl-Alm. Dort hat Doreen Winking und mich auch der erste Schnee voll erwischt, wie man hier auf unserem Fun-Video sehen kann. Die freie Trauung fand direkt auf der Maierl Alm statt, wunderbar geleitet von Gunter Mehler. Überhaupt waren nur Profis am Werk – handverlesen von Doreen, wie sollte es anders sein. Doreen fand sogar noch kurzfristig einen Zitherspieler für die Trauung! Andreas hat in nur 15 Minuten das Wunschlied von Bettina und Martin einstudiert. Für das wunderbare Brautstyling war Daniela Duczek nach Kirchberg gereist.
Eine Alm zu dekorieren ist eine besondere Herausforderung und Julia Hörl hat mal wieder ihr Können unter Beweis gestellt. Die wunderbare Papeterie kam diesmal von Karina Buddensiek. Und wer sich über das unscharfe Bild des Brautpaares in diesem Blogpost wundert: Absicht! Karina hat nämlich aus einem alten (unscharfen) Selbstportrait des Paares eine wunderbare Einladung gezaubert und für die Dankeskarte habe ich ein ähnliches Portrait gemacht.
Die Chalets der Maierl-Alm sind übrigens ein Traum – und direkt an der Skipiste von Kitzbühel! Auch unser Hotel im Tal muss ich erwähnen: Der Rosengarten wurde neu eröffnet und wir waren schwer begeistert von den Suiten (und dem Frühstück)! Für die tolle Musik am Abend sorgte DJ Basti Stummer begleitet von Martina Prutscher an den Percussions.

Bettina & Martins wedding took place in Kirchberg / Tyrol in October and was surprisingly a real winter wedding. Temperatures fell from +20 C to 0 and we got 20 cm of fresh snow over night! The civil wedding took place in Kirchberg followed by a get-together evening at Kasplatzl-Alm. Doreen Winking and I made a fun-video of ourselves in the first snow. The ceremony took place on the next day at the Maierl Alm, held by Gunter Mehler. Doreen hand picked the staff for this wedding and everything was perfect just as usual. She even found -last minute – a guy who played the Zither during the ceremony and Andreas Erber was able to study a special song for the couple within 15 Minutes!
I think it’s a special task to decorate an alpine hut (although ‘hut’ is not really appropriate for Maierl Alm – but I couldn’t find another word) – anyway, Julia Hörl did a great job as always! The stationary was designed by Karina Buddensiek who did a great job as well. If anyone is wondering about the out-of-focus picture in this blogpost: on purpose! Karina designed a lovely invitation card with an old, black&white, blurry self-portrait of the couple – and I’ve created a similar one for the thank-you card.
The chalets of the Maierl Alm are absolutely marvelous by the way – and right by the ski slopes of Kitzbühel! And I’ve got to mention our hotel in Kirchberg: the opening of Rosengarten was just recently and Doreen and I were thrilled with our suites and with the breakfast! Two more names to mention: DJ Basti Stummer and percussionist Martina Prutscher did a great job as well!
